Mixed with the formerly held Creative Arts Emmys, The White Lotus received the most awards with 10 golden statuettes. Six awards go to Euphoria and Squid Game each. Perhaps the biggest prize and best drama series award are bagged by Succession, a favorite in the industry. All in all, it was really a fantastic night for HBO, as it won twice as many awards as it won last year. From the comedy side, Ted Lasso emerged on top of the list by being the recipient of an Emmy for best comedy series, actor, and supporting actor in the category of comedy series. It was possibly the best night for Netflix’s Squid Game. Hwang Dong-Hyuk bagged the Emmy for the title of best direction of a drama series for Netflix’s Squid Game. It was a show he had been trying to create and get greenlit for 10 years. Lee Jung-Jae also won for his work as the best lead actor in a drama series in Squid Game for his portrayal of Seong Gi-hun. He beats out Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul. Moreover, reportedly Lee is the first ever Asian actor who won this award. Two stalwart actresses won their first Emmys after decades of working in the industry, making it one of the most standout moments of the night. Those two actresses are Sheryl Lee Ralph for Abbott Elementary and Jennifer Coolidge for The White Lotus. Sheryl Lee Ralph won Emmy for being the outstanding supporting actress in a comedy and Jennifer Coolidge for being the most outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie.
